Vijayawada to get a Smart Grid set up by Fuji Electric.
Japanese major Fuji Electric will set up a Smart Grid in Vijayawada on pilot basis. As a collaboration initiative between Japan and AP’s Government, Fuji Electric has conducted a feasibility study for a smart grid project and will submit the report soon.
Smart Grid will monitor the consumption of energy and forecast the demand for the next 24 hours to make energy management efficient. Smart Grid also allows one to share energy with other grids if the demand is less from one grid and more from the others.
Explaining that energy efficiency and energy saving is one of the government’s focus areas, CBN asked them to identify the possibilities of collaboration in energy-related technology areas such as renewable energy (wind, solar, biomass, etc.). CBN also requested the delegates to install smart meters and suggest technologies which will bring down the transmission & commercial losses from the current 12.9% to 6%
