Atal Bihari Vajpayee (born 25 December 1924) was the eleventh Prime Minister of India.
A parliamentarian for over four decades,Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected to the Lok Sabha nine times, and twice to the Rajya Sabha. He was the Minister of External Affairs in the cabinet of Morarji Desai.
On 25 Dec 2014 the office of President of India announced the Bharat Ratna award, India's highest civilian hon-our, to Mr Vajpayee.
His birthday, 25 Dec, has been declared "Good Governance Day"
