IRCTC rules for Online Reservations.

*CHANGES IN INDIAN RAILWAY/ IRCTC PASSENGER RESERVATION SYSTEM*
FROM *01st JULY 2016* 

1⃣Passengers will get refund amount of 50% on cancellation of tatkal tickets.

2⃣There has been slight change made by the Indian Railways for booking tatkal tickets. *From July 1, tatkal window for AC coach will be open between 10 am to 11 am and for sleeper coach the timing will be from 11 am to 12 pm.*
3⃣From *July 1* the *Waiting list* system will come to an end and tickets will be issued only for confirmed and *RAC* passengers accommodation. The provisions for the waiting list will be ended.
3⃣By next month the number of coaches in *Rajdhani* and *Shatabdi* will be increased.
4⃣From July 1, *Rajdhani* and *Shatabdi* will move ahead with paper less tickets. Only mobile tickets will be valid on these trains.
5⃣The Indian Railways officials website *IRCTC*, will also start booking tickets in various languages.
6⃣Premium trains will come to an end from *July 1*.
7⃣The passengers can also get 50 percent return after cancelling *Suvidha* train tickets.
8⃣The passengers will also get *‘wake up call destination’* facility in the trains from *July 1*

IRCTC has changed the rules for Online Reservations.

Any user who login between 08:00 A.M and 12:00 A.M can book only once. To re-book another ticket, the user has to logout & login again. This rule has been updated from today with the immediate affect.
This has been updated in order to reduce malpractices in the online reservations.

 You can book a railway ticket online 30 minutes prior to the departure of a train
From November 12  you can book a railway ticket online 30 minutes prior to the departure of a train.
In a passenger-friendly move, Railways has also made changes in its system of preparation of chart, which would now be prepared twice.

According to the revised rules, booking will be allowed on internet as well as at reservation counters for a particular train, subject to availability of berths, even after the preparation of first reservation chart.


A confirmed railway ticket can be transferred in your blood relations.
If a person is holding a confirmed ticket and is unable to travel, then the ticket can be transferred to his/her family members including father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife.
For transfer of ticket, an application must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure of the train to chief reservation supervisor with ID proof.
Government officials can transfer to other govt official, students can transfer ticket to other students.
Railways hike platform ticket from Apr 1st, 2015
The rate of platform ticket will be increased from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 per ticket from April 1, and all concerned have been given instruction regarding this,  the Railway Ministry said in a release.

Train Ticket Booking in Advance
Also, one can book a train ticket 120 days ahead of travel date, instead of 60 days as at present.

Train Ticket Cancellation
Cancellation of e-Tickets before chart preparation of the train:

If a confirmed ticket is cancelled more than 48 hrs before the scheduled departure of the train, flat cancellation charges shall be deducted @ Rs.240/- for AC First Class/Executive Class, Rs.200/- for AC 2 Tier/First Class, Rs. 180 for AC 3 Tier/AC Chair car/ AC 3 Economy, Rs.120/- for Sleeper Class and Rs.60/- for Second Class. Cancellation charges are per passenger. If a confirmed ticket is cancelled within 48 hrs and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, cancellation charges shall be 25% of the fare subject to the minimum flat rate mentioned in the above clause. Less than 12 hours and upto four hours before the scheduled departure of the train up to chart preparation which is earlier, 50% of the fare paid subject to the minimum cancellation charges. Note the Chart preparation time is the time for the chart preparation from the Train Originating Station or from the previous chart Preparation station.
