Andhra Pradesh will be an energy-secure state

Andhra Pradesh  Chief Minister   Nara Chandrababu Naidu   said about Power in New AP as follows :
When I took over as the Chief Minister of our new State of Andhra Pradesh, we had started with a power-deficit of 22 million units per day. My government has brought it down to zero within three months.
Through this, Andhra Pradesh has achieved the “zero- power cuts” milestone.
Our state is one of the three states in the country chosen by the Government of India for implementation of 24X7 “Power for All” programme.
To meet our future power needs, we have action plans that envisage generation of 9,000 MW solar and wind power in the coming five years.
A 4,000 MW super thermal power station is being established with the help of NTPC near Visakhapatnam.
Another 960 MW hydel power project has been proposed as part of the Polavaram project.Besides, AP Genco is coming up with a 1,600 MW thermal plant near Krishnapatnam.
I hope, these efforts will ensure uninterrupted power supply for agriculture, domestic or industrial sector. 24x7 power will attract more investments eventually leading to overall development of the state.
I'm confident that we will remain an energy-secure and energy-surplus state.

Tirupati Assembly by-elections 2015

Thirteen candidates are in fray for the by-elections for Tirupati Assembly seat in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

They are

Mannuru Suguna (TDP)Sridevi. R (Congress), Asadi Venkatadri (RKSP), Kalluri Balasubramanyam (Lok Satta), Nagaveti Subramanyam Achari (ABJS)
and independent candidates
Katari Kesavulu Chetty, Kamatam Subba Reddy, Guru Govinda Yadav, Davids Vagdev, Pothi Reddy Venkata Reddy, Manohar Reddy Dasari, A Raveendra and L Lakkappa.

The main war is likely to be between TDP's Suguna and Congress party's Sridevi. The YSR CP has not fielded its candidate following an appeal by the TDP to make the election unanimous.
The seat fell vacant due to the demise of sitting TDP MLA M Venakataramana on December 15. Since TDP had not fielded its candidate in Allagadda by-polls, the YSRCP reciprocated by staying away from Tirupati by-polls. However, the election could not be unanimous with Congress, Lok Satta Party and other independents entering the fray.

The polling will be on February 13 and the counting of votes will take place on February 16.
